impart On A Sketch of Wathone

I recently watched the Documentary about one of Myanmar's artist, "A Sketch Of Wathone". 'A Sketch of Wathone', a film directed by Burmese director Kyi Phyu Shin which profiled Wathone's life, won a National Geographic award for best feature-length film.

From the withdrawal of his charmingly idiosyncratic home, Wathone - one of Myanmar's best-known painters - shares his thoughts about his life, art, and family. Wathone spent most of his life painting and lived plainly and modestly, agreeing to his colleagues.

Myanmar

Firstly, he explicate about his name "Wathone" means "The Earth", he likes this name because he thinks "We're all part of the earth, no matter how rich or poor you are, you'll end up in the earth, as a corpse or ashes. He want to paint all the world's creatures. Money doesn't matter to him, he want to do what he love. He think many citizen have to do things to survive, but their hearts aren't in it, he doesn't like this kind of living. "He explains about his life partner, they has been married for 40 years, his wife is from village, she can contempt her life as well. Their children are all turned out well. So he pleased the whole his life and his house even though they are not too rich. He never beat his children but he was beaten by his parents. He doesn't like that kind of manner.

I read the news of his death, after the documentary has finished, so sad to hear. But I will always admire and remember him.

The World's Five Worst Olympic Countries

1. Cuba- Drugs & Scandals

Unfortunately, Cuba is already a bad dream in the Olympic Movement. Why? Since 1964, Cuba has produced athletes with a huge superiority complicated and strong anti-American feeling. They have showed this anti-Olympic feeling many times. Angel Volodia Matos Fuentes, a Cuban taekwondo athlete, is the only athlete in the Olympic history that has hit a referee. This sportsman kicked a referee in the face after he lost a match at the 2008 Olympics. "We didn't expect anyone like what you have witnessed to occur. I'm at a loss for words. This is an insult to the Olympic vision, an insult to the spirit of taekwondo and, in my opinion, an insult to mankind", said Yang Jin-suk (World Taekwondo Federation secretary). Angel won a gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in 2000.

Myanmar

In Atlanta in 1996, the Cuban's women's volleyball team quarreled with the Brazilian team during the semi-finals. This is why Regla Radameris Torres Herrera, who has received some offers to become a top fashion model in Italy, was suspended and could not play for some months. Cuban players of women's volleyball are predominant for their aggressiveness against rivals.

Cuba's Javier Sotomayor Sanabria will be remembered as one of the worst examples in the world sports community. In 1988, Prensa Latina -Cuban news agency- announced that in its yearly poll of sportswriters Javier Sotomayor was named "Cuban Athlete of the Year". He beat out Felix Savon (boxing), Jorge Fis (Judo), and Ana Fidelia Quirot (track & field). Javier, known as "Soto", was one of the most victorious athletes in the history of the Cuban Revolution.

On September 8, 1988, Javier -whose country had boycotted the Summer Olympics in 1988- set a world narrative in the high jump. A year later he set another world narrative (2.45 m / 8' 1/2"). Under the direction of Jose Godoy, a Soviet-educated professor, he won practically all his competitions in the 1990s.

In 2001, Javier Sotomayor, in one of a series of exhibitions tournaments, tested inescapable for a muscle-building steroid. "The decision to let him compete again is like a hit in my face", said Arne Ljungqvist (vice president of the Iaaf). Two years ago, Javier also had tested inescapable for drugs at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg (Canada). However, he had been exonerated by the Cuban Olympic Committee. Furthermore, Fidel Castro Ruz -Cuba's dictator- denied that Javier had taken cocaine. In an narrative in Granma (Communist party daily), Javier said " I'm innocent. I have only seen that substance in the movies. I´m the victim of maneuver, a dirty trick".

Unlike Ben Johnson and Linford Christie, Javier received a special treatment by the Iaaf. He was banned by the Iaaf for only 11 months. Thanks to this, Javier Sotomayor could compete at the 2000 Olympics, where he won a silver medal. Three European countries, Norway, Finland and Denmark, criticized this controversial decision. "If you test inescapable and get suspended, you shouldn't get a reduced sentence just because you're a predominant track athlete", said Patrick Sjoberg, a former world narrative possessor in men's high jump.

2. Myanmar- Sports & Dictatorships

Olympic sport can unify a country like Myanmar -an Asian country which has many ethnic conflicts. However, it -pop. 52 million- has one of the world's worst Olympic teams. In the last fifty years, three dictatorships have destroyed the Olympic spirit in this land of friendly people. For unknown reasons, Myanmar did not compete at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Canada. In 1980, Sue Khin terminated in 47th place in the marathon at the Moscow Summer Games. Four years later, Myanmar -it officially changed its name from Burma in 1989- sent 1 athlete (boxer) to Los Angeles (Usa). In 1996, Myanmar was represented by only 3 athletes (athletics and shooting).

At the 2006 Asian Games in Qatar, Myanmar terminated 27th in the unofficial team standings (behind China, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Jordan, Lebanon, etc). In an interview, Khin Maung Lwin, secretary of the Myanmese Olympic Committee, said "Our Noc has worked in close collaboration with the respective national sports federations to make all the needful preparations for participation in Doha 2006. We have excellent the athletes who showed their best form and achieved top results from that 23rd Sea Games for the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006. As a founding member of the Asian Games Federation in 1949 and the Olympic Council of Asia, we believe the Asian Games is a very foremost tool for the development of the youth of Asia and for the promotion of international respect, friendly and goodwill..."

3. Albania - Enver Hoxha's Legacy

What is the presuppose why Albania does not furnish world-class athletes? Albania is familiar for its indifference to sports. It is one of the few European countries that have not Olympic champions. Albania was one of the most unsuccessful countries at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the People's Republic of China.

Like Mao Tse-tung (Chinese dictator, 1949-1976) and Pol Pot (Cambodian tyrant, 1975-1979), Enver Hoxha did not retain friendly relations with the International Olympic Committee. From 1950 to 1985, Enver Hoxha -one of the bloodiest dictators of the 20th century- gained a reputation as an anti-Olympic leader in the world. during his Maoist dictatorship, Albania boycotted seven Olympic Games (Rome '60, Tokyo '64, Mexico City '68, Montreal '76, Moscow '80, Los Angeles '84, Seoul '88), seven Mediterranean Games (Beirut '59, Naples '63, Tunis '67, Izmir '71, Algiers '75, Split '79, Casablanca '83) and other international events (Winter Games, World University Games, World championships, European tournaments). In 1985, two weightlifters had defected to Yugoslavia (currently Serbia).

Since 1991, the new government does not have interest in sports and recreation. This European nation is losing its best athletes, who are selecting to live abroad, and not returning to Albania. Many Greeks athletes have Albanian descent: Leonidas Sampani (weightlifting), Sawa Lika (track and field), Pyrro Dimas (weightlifting / Olympic champion, 1992, 1996, 2000), Mirela Manjani (athletics). At the World Championships in 2003, Mirela won a gold medal. Albania has been a member of the International Olympic Committee (Ioc) since 1959.

4.Taiwan is not Ethiopia

Who was the last world-class athlete of Taiwan? Her name: Chi Cheng (1959-1972). This Olympic ambassador has been called "the Eastern Flying antelope". At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, in October, she, who studied and trained in California, won a bronze medal in the 80 meter low hurdles. Two years later, she broken the world records in the 100m (11,00 seconds) and 200m (22,44 seconds) in July 1970, but she failed in the Olympic Games in 1972. Unexpectedly, she had an injury. Chi Cheng was the popular to win the gold medal in the 200m. To get ready for the Munich Games, she competed in Asia, Europe and the United States. In 1972, she announced that she was retiring from athletics. In 1971, she was elected "World Athlete of the Year" by the connected Press. In this election, she beat Edson Arantes do Nascimento, one of the most athletes of all time. Since 1972, Taiwan continues to celebrate Chi Cheng's world records.

Unfortunately, Taiwan can not furnish world-class athletes.

This Asian country -also known as Roc, Chinese Taipei, Republic of China on Taiwan or Free China- has 10,000 stadiums, 1,850 swimming pools, 1,420 tennis courts, 14,252 sports parks, more than 762 gymnasiums, nearly 9,100 basketball and handball courts, and 87 cycling tracks. With more than double the funds of Jamaica, Ethiopia and North Korea, Taiwan only has won two gold medals (1960-2008). At the 1996 Games, Chinese-Taipei sent 71 athletes and won one silver medal (tennis table).

They have not learnt the palpate of South Korea, whose athletes have won 85 gold medals-its best unconventional diplomacy in the world. A good example for a country which does not have full polite relations with 180 nations. Chinese Taipei -one of the developing world's most victorious democracies- is only recognized by 23 countries: Belize, Burkina Faso, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Gambia, Guatemala, Holy See, Haiti, Honduras, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Nicaragua, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Sao Tome & Principe, Swaziland, Tuvalu.

5. Iceland- A country without Olympic Champions

Iceland - a nation in the North Atlantic near the Arctic Circle- has never won an Olympic medal in the Winter Games. It is one of the oldest Olympic countries in the world (Ioc member since 1921). Ranked by the United Nations as one of the richest countries in the world, Iceland has some sports facilities- indoor stadiums, winter Olympic arenas, sports parks and swimming pools. Many habitancy can not believe that one of the richest nations in Europe can not win a winter Olympic medal. Unlike Iceland, Liechtenstein -an area the size of District of Columbia- has won two Olympic titles and 58 World championships. Iceland -it is slightly larger than South Korea- took part in 15 editions of the Winter Games between 1948 and 2006. Glíma, a customary wrestling, is the national sport of Iceland.

United States Foreign procedure - Why North Korea But Not Myanmar?

The United States has been at the forefront of moves to weaken the North Korean government. It has forwarded and popular ,favorite United Nations safety Council resolutions that inflict a truckload of sanctions against what they call a "rogue state". However, a similar dictatorship exists in Myanmar (Burma) and yet nothing much has been done on it. Why is this so?

First, let us discuss the geopolitical aspect. The United States, geographically, is nearer to the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese Archipelago. At a time of war, it can directly send military from home to these places. Sites like Camp Humphreys in Anjung-ri and Pyongtaek, South Korea and the Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Japan, are directly have direct sea routes to the United States waters.

Myanmar

On the other hand, Myanmar is more complicated. Going there would mean going through numerous national boundaries of Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Thailand and many more. At a time of war, this can prove to be too dangerous for Us forces, as they will be subjected to much hostility in the process. Thus, protecting East Asia is more useful to the Us than protecting Myanmar.

Second, East Asia has a bigger and richer economy compared to Myanmar, which virtually has none. Protecting the stability of East Asia will be economically more useful to the United States as it will ensure the continuity of active trade with the Us. Most of those that surround Myanmar, on the other hand, are still developing, compared to electronics giants South Korea and Japan.

Furthermore, the United States has military deployed in many other places in the world. It is also fighting simultaneous wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Adding Myanmar to the list will mean further budget deficits, something that is very difficult to defend in congress. If Myanmar is included in the picture, Us military will be spread too thinly, something that is a no-no when it comes to accepted warfare. In short, there is very tiny economic incentive to help Myanmar, compared to helping South Korea.

In short, politically and economically, Myanmar for the United States is not too interesting.

Ruby - Burning the Eternal Flame

Known to be the sticker of eternal love, the fiery and emotional ruby is normally presented as a gift for couples celebrating their 15th and 40th wedding anniversary. Although rubies come in distinct shades of red - from orange-red, pinkish, to purple-red - the most considerable form come in a deep red shade.

Common Locations of Rubies

Myanmar

Mining for rubies started some 2,500 years ago, and to this date, ruby mining is still being undertaken in some parts of Asia such as Thailand and Burma, Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United States. But Burma, now known as Myanmar, is the most customary source of fine rubies. Studies have shown that ruby mining in Burma could be traced way back into the Stone Age and Bronze Age, as proven by tools found in the Mogok mining area. Thailand, on the other hand, is carefully today as the most important trading town in the world when it comes to ruby trading. There have also been discoveries of rubies in some areas in Vietnam and most recently in Madagascar.

Myths and Rubies

In the aged Sanskrit language, ruby is called ratnaraj translated as "king of gemstones." aged Hindus believe that it is the "Lord of all Gems."

Also known as the birthstone of those born in the month of July, and in some studies those under the zodiac Capricorn; ruby is not only regarded as a sticker of eternal love.

Out of the many myths and legends surrounding its brilliance, the one that stuck the most to lovers of this persisting gemstone is the one that said one should always be appreciative of rubies because they become lackluster when neglected, overlooked or unloved. In a word, you personify its symbolism, and its point is revered in your association with it.

Sovereigns or crowned heads turned to rubies for help in predicting and consequently preventing impending danger. Royalties kept rubies in their possession to protect them against vulnerability. They believed that the stone turns dark in color when imminent danger is at hand and returns to its original shade when the threat is gone.

It is likewise believed that any one who wears ruby as jewelry is given good health, wealth, wisdom, and luck in love and can live peacefully among his enemies. This is probably one of the reasons why this gemstone has been regarded as one of the most cherished gems in history. Even today, rubies are viewed as more precious and rare than diamonds.

Its potential eternal flame, its brilliance, the way the shade of red is refracted on each facet of the stone, giving a distinct red every time you turn it towards the sun, and the rich legend surrounding it; these are only some of the finest qualities of ruby that make it precious and rare. This is why some true-blue romantics prefer it over diamonds. Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, and yes, they may spell forever, but forever does not cross over to eternity. A ruby's eternal flame does.

Let Wei, The Most Brutal Form Of Combat, Is Back!

Let Wei, also known as Burmese boxing or Myanma traditional boxing, is a violent martial art recently "discovered" by muay thai fanatics. Sharing a base past with muay boran and pradal serey, Let Wei was practiced by Burmese warriors since the 12th century but not much was known about it until a few years ago. Myanmar's past fifty years of self-seclusion kept this antique native form of combat hidden away from the attention of martial arts practitioners. It evolved from battlefields to matches held in round sand pits while temples' fairs or foremost events patronized by Burmese kings, similarly to those organized in old Siam.

Every fight used to be "to the end", with no time limit, often ending with one winner and an unconscious loser. Boxers were specifically trained to endure pain and to keep on attacking even after being repeatedly knocked down and revived while the match. Head-butts, gouging and biting were also allowed. Therefore, many fights resulted in the death of one contender.

Let Wei, also known as Burmese boxing or Myanma traditional boxing, is a violent martial art recently "discovered" by muay thai fanatics. Sharing a base past with muay boran and praadal serey, Let Wei was practiced by Burmese warriors since the 12th century but not much was known about it until a few years ago. The preponderant Nai Kanomthom's story comes from those times. More recently (beginning of 20th century), rudimentary wooden rings were erected on temple or royal palace's grounds.

The Myanma traditional Boxing, founded in 1996 with government hold to promote Let Wei as a native sport, like the Thais did with muay thai, has defined the rules, the categories and the techniques allowed in the ring. Nowadays fights have 5 rounds of 3 minutes each on allowable rings. Boxers still fight without gloves, using only cotton or elastic hand bands. Rules are now roughly similar to muay thai but still permit the use of head butts, wrestling and marvelous take-downs. It is also allowed to attack an opponent when falling down (this used to be allowed in muay thai, too). Elbows and knees are the weapons of option for all fighters, used with full force without any protection. I personally saw a few teeth fly out of a guy's mouth in Yangon after a marvelous reverse-elbow hit him. Amazingly, the referee allowed him to continue the fight even though he was bleeding profusely, could barely stand and was visibly spaced-out by the blow.

From a spectator's point of view, Let Wei is fast, messy and brutally violent. Often both fighters attack simultaneously, hitting each other with marvelous combinations of punches, elbows and kicks; the focus doesn't seem to be on defending themselves against the opponents' marvelous blows but rather on attacking, all the time.

Let Wei fights are not "clean", in terms of techniques, but appear a lot more tantalizing than the majority of Lumpini's muay thai fights, which in comparison appear static, roughly dull. In a Let Wei fight you'll see plenty of jump-flying knees, pull downs and all sort of tricks tantalizing elbows. And all those vicious muay boran moves not allowed anymore in Thailand. Unfortunately, the fights can only be viewed in Yangon on weekends and while festivities upcountry. It's not easy to move nearby Myanmar (compared to Thailand) and such events are not tourist-oriented like in Bangkok.

A gorgeous opportunity to see something very similar to Burmese boxing falls every year in April, while the Songkran festivities shared by all Buddhist countries in South East Asia. In the Thai town of Mae Sot, on a ring near the border, Burmese fighters meet their Siamese counterparts for a ancient-style (no gloves, old rules) boxing competition. The rivalry between the two old foes becomes alive every year and it's boosted by the great estimate of betting going on nearby the ring. This event is recaptured in the Thai movie "Ong Bak" (2004), a Thai-made budget movie which generated great interest and demand for muay boran.

Even though there are well known Let Wei champions actively fighting in Myanmar, due to the brutality of obvious techniques and Myanmar's government voyage restrictions on its citizens, they aren't allow to compete neither in Thailand nor in any place else covering their country.

About Indonesian Living Room Furniture & Dining Room Furniture Made of Teak

The Teak Wood Tree

Teak Wood is a very dense hardwood that has very high oil and wax content which makes it a convenient selection for both indoor and outdoor use. The wood is naturally defiant to rot or degradation caused by fungal decay. It contains an valuable oil that resists water and prevents the rusting of iron, while its heartwood is defiant to termites and other insects.

Myanmar

The coarse Teak Wood Tree ("Tectona Grandis") is a tall tree which is widely cultivated in tropical areas (e.g. Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand). Teak wood is slowly hard, de facto worked and processed and very durable; beams known to be over 1,000 years old are still functional. The tree sometimes grows to a height of 150 feet (46 meters), and the leaves often grow 2 feet (61 centimeters) long and 1 1/2 feet (46 centimeters) wide. They yield a purple dye and are also used for thatch and for wrapping material.

Trends in Teak Furniture Production

Teak is classic to all other woods and it is used for teak furniture manufacturing, flooring, shipbuilding and normal construction. Currently, there is a strong wave of appreciation for and desire to avow the natural attractiveness of the earth. When talking about furniture, teak seems to fit into this niche quite well as it brings nature into our houses in a useful and practical way.

Teak Living Room Furniture, Dining Room Furniture or Rustic Furniture of highest capability surely is not easy to find, especially in Indonesia, inspecting the sheer whole of all teak factories there. But if the international buyer is persistent and keeps looking, he will (maybe) find reliable teak factories which are innovative and open to new styles and trends. One of these new styles and trends worth mentioning in teak furniture output is the "New Rustic Style", where the teak wood is being grind along the grains, to emerge a deeper cut of the grains, in which way the furniture will get a very natural, unique yet contemporary look.

Teak Rustic Furniture

When the manufacturing partner has been chosen, the buyer should insist that the factory is being repeatedly checked and branch to constant capability control. This will ensure and guarantee highest capability as well as first class products. Especially in terms of classic capability and excellent workmanship about Living Room Furniture, Dining Room Furniture and Rustic Furniture made of Teak, the author knows where to go.

Far East Painting - Burmese contemporary Art

Burmese modern Art - The History

Burma (Myanmar), a Southeast Asian country, has been isolated from the rest of the world since 1988, due to its non-democratic military dictatorship. Similar to its political and economic isolation, modern Art in this region also does not have much western influence. Developing on its own terms, art in Burma reflects a fine equilibrium between modernity and the country's rich cultural heritage. The motifs and art theme in paintings are often linked to the deep-rooted Marxist and Buddhist beliefs in the country. The difficult socio-political situation in the country also has a considerable affect on its modern Art.

Myanmar

Contemporary Art is not much experimental in Burma, with oil, poster color, crayons, and watercolor as the most beloved mediums for paintings. A characteristic highlight of art instruction in Burma is the law of apprenticeship, where-in students learn from their masters in workshops. The improvement in modern Art is exiguous to the two major cities of Rangoon (Yangon) and Mandalay. The State School of Fine Arts opened in Yangon and Mandalay, in 1952. They are the first formal art schools of the country. The National Museum of Myanmar, established in 1952, was first platform for aspiring artists to display the nation's art.

The Artworks & Artists

Artists U Ba Nyan and U Ngwe Gaing were the first ones to introduce Western Painting style in Burmese Art. U Lun Gywe (Yangon, 1930) is carefully the most living master of Burmese Paintings. His style of painting is close to Impressionism, with his beloved field being the charm of women. They generally prefer bachelors but some do provide house chamber and the basic requirements. companies and multinationals in countries like Singapore and Malaysia attract Indian talents by providing them with comfortable housing and a luxurious lifestyle. These major attractions do take them beyond the boundaries but in return they are wholly squeezed by the employer.

People do earn a lot while working abroad but there are some setbacks that sometime takes all down the drain. Long working hours is a coarse question all Indians face in their overseas jobs. The companies there expect high levels of operation that is not potential all the times. If the predicted level is not maintained then 'hire and fire' is the only institution widely performed. Some even take the passport of the employees till the tenure of the covenant is over or when the worker leaves the office.

Apart from all these, returning to India becomes more difficult. After working for long overseas, it is no ifs ands or buts provocative and difficult to get into the right job with the right wage box in the country. There are few who even have to give a long break of about two to three years for settling down in India after returning.

Definitely there is a good fortune beyond the boundaries but where there are peaks there are valleys too.
